A 1990 batch Uttar Pradesh Cadre senior IPS Officer Prashant Kumar-I has assumed the charge as ADG Law and Order on Thursday. After assuming the charge Prashant Kumar underlined his priorities to activate digital volunteers across the state to keep a tab on social media activities, strengthen village security committees, develop better coordination of peace committees and strengthen community and beat policing to maintain the law and order of the state. As a second immediate commander of Uttar Pradesh Police he further stated that the effective implementation of state government directives and improve the image of police force will also be his main priority.
It is worth mentioning here that under the able leadership of ADG Zone Meerut IPS Prashant Kumar for two years and ten months, Western Uttar Pradesh recorded a low crime rate this year. Reports say that crime in western Uttar Pradesh nosedived to 70 percent in April this year. Either it be the deployment of forces from the abrogation of Article 370 to the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict or effective policing during anti- CAA Protests to enforcement of Lockdown guidelines, IPS Prashant Kumar strategy was considered as role model for other bureaucrats.
